about

The expedition photographer came back to Fieldbase after a few days trekking with the Alpha 3 group. She told us how a little puppy belonging to a lady whose land they camped on followed them for miles, and they locked it in a church toilet. In the name of banter, we were really mean and made up a story about how the puppy died.

lyrics

Verse one:
Once upon a time Alpha three
Took a little break from their trekking
They found themselves a little puppy
And they locked it in the toilet

The puppy had a place in an old lady’s heart
They said it followed them too far
They took it as far as the church yard
And they locked it in the toilet

Chorus:
The puppy needed to wet its throat
It jumped to get its head in the toilet bowl
The poor little puppy couldn’t get out
And that poor puppy drowned

Verse two:
They said they thought they were doing right
Someone would come to the toilet and find
The poor little puppy all alone
And find a way to take him home

The puppy was smaller than a hiking boot
Black and white and super-cute
The kind of puppy to make you go “Aw”
Now that poor puppy’s gone.
